Bishop David trained as a Salvation Army Officer in the early seventies. Episcopally ordained in 2001 David became our first Bishop of Scotland in November 2006
Passionate about ecumenism and having chaired the Livingston Ministers Fellowship with Churches Together for more years than he cares to remember Bishop David is currently a member of the ecumenical team chaplaincy at West Lothian College
As well as his responsibility for the Diocese of Scotland Bishop David also acts as chaplain to Scotland's largest ASDA superstore, having held that position since 2002. He was the first such chaplain in Scotland and one of the first UK wide
He is also an honorary member of the NHS Chaplain's team at St John's Hospital in Livingston
Retaining Episcopal oversight of the diocese until a new bishop is in post the diocese is now managed on a daily basis by the Vicar General and the Diocesan Secretary because of Bishop David's poor health and lack of mobility
