We Believe:
The Open Episcopal Church is rooted in the teaching of the historic Church enshrined in the Catholic Creeds and the teaching of all the Ecumenical Councils of the Christian Church
We therefore teach the doctrine of the Holy Trinity. There is but one God who creates all things visible and invisible. In this Godhead there are three persons who share in one substance: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Son, who is eternally begotten of the Father, became incarnate from the Blessed Virgin Mary and was made truly human. We teach that for our sake he suffered, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended to the dead and on the third day he rose from the dead, he ascended into heaven where he sits at the right hand of God until he returns to judge the living and the dead. We teach the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and speaks through the prophets
We believe that there is one, holy, catholic and apostolic church in which the very life of Christ is found and transmitted to the world through the sacraments by the power of the apostolic succession
We acknowledge one baptism by which Christians are incorporated into the death and resurrection of Christ. And we look forward with confident hope to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come, a life which is already being born among us
